JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Job Title: Executive Director for Rape and Abuse Crisis Services (RACS)

Location: Jefferson City, Missouri Reports 

Overview:

Rape and Abuse Crisis Services is a private, non-profit organization established in 1980 and located in Jefferson City, Missouri. We operate a 24 hour a day/7 days per week safe shelter offering a crisis hotline, intervention and advocacy for adult survivors of stranger and non-stranger sexual assault and domestic violence. We provide legal advocacy and prevention and educational services for survivors, their children and the community in the nine areas of Cole, Southern Callaway, Southern Boone, Morgan, Maries, Moniteau, Osage, Miller, and Gasconade counties in Central Missouri.

Position Summary:

We are looking for a skilled executive to lead our organization in this critical mission. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will oversee the strategic and operational efficiency of our programs and staff, with special emphasis on evaluation, integration and execution of ideas and plans which are relevant to the mission and services of the agency. The position requires demonstrated abilities in organizational management, leadership, and community networking. The successful candidate will be comfortable in a leadership role that ensures coordination of the contributions of Board, staff, and key stakeholders for optimal agency performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategic Planning:

  • Provide visionary and adaptive leadership that aligns with the organization’s mission and values.
  • Foster an inclusive, trauma-informed, and survivor-centered culture.
  • Administer all programs and services in accordance with the agency mission, policies, and guidance from the Board of Directors.
  • Develop and maintain professional standards of practice in the agency.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to professional staff development.

Program Oversight:

  • Ensure delivery of comprehensive services including emergency shelter, advocacy, counseling, and prevention programming.
  • Evaluate and improve program effectiveness using data and survivor feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local laws and grant requirements. Financial Management:
  • In conjunction with the Finance Committee, develop the agency’s annual budget for approval by the Board of Directors.
  • Secure and manage funding from government contracts, foundations, and private donors.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and transparency to the Board and funders.
  • With assistance from the Finance Committee, develop key metrics to monitor agency performance and drive growth and continuous improvement.

Fundraising & Development:

  • With assistance from the Fundraising committee, lead fundraising efforts including events and campaigns.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donations from individuals, foundations, corporations and government entities.
  • Serve as an integral part of all fundraising efforts; develop strategic and tactical plans to grow agency revenue.
  • Be responsible for researching and selecting grants (government, foundations, and corporations) that align with the mission of RACS, writing and submitting detailed and persuasive grant proposals and renewals.

Board Relations:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and staff.
  • Support the Board in governance responsibilities, including strategic planning and development.
  • Maintain regular, detailed dialogue with the Board of Directors regarding agency, client, and community news and developments.
  • Serve as an ex officio member of committees of the Board of Directors.

Human Resources & Operations:

  • Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising a diverse and qualified staff.
  • Foster a healthy workplace culture that prioritizes employee well-being and professional growth.
  • Ensure appropriate policies, procedures, and infrastructure are in place to support staff and operations.
  • Develop and administer sound human resource practices, particularly those related to employee hiring, development, evaluation, promotion, and, if necessary, discharge.

Community Engagement & Advocacy:

  • Serve as a public spokesperson and advocate for survivors of domestic violence.
  • Serve as the face of the agency and promote its mission, values, and programs and services to the greater community.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and verbal and experience as a spokesperson.
  • Build collaborative relationships with community partners, service providers, and policymakers.
  • Raise awareness about domestic violence and prevention efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s (Preferred) degree in nonprofit management, social work, public administration, or a related field.
  • Progressive leadership experience in the nonprofit sector, preferably in domestic violence or social services or equivalent work in human services delivery to include nonprofit management.
  • Demonstrated experience in program management, fundraising, financial oversight, and team leadership.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and issues affecting survivors of domestic violence with knowledge of the domestic violence issues in the nine service counties, state of Missouri and nationwide.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion along with the mission and values of RACS.
  • Proven administrative abilities, including fund management, grant writing and procurement of major donors.
  • Proven success working with a Board of Directors.
  • Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization.
  • Empathy, courage, and determination needed to work in a social service agency.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary Range: [$75,000–$85,000], commensurate with experience.
  • Waiting period may apply. ● Benefits include: health insurance, paid time off, professional development opportunities, etc.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday.
  • Availability for “on call” emergencies outside of regular business hours.
  • Monthly/Bi-Monthly Board Meetings
