2017 Criminal Laws
The majority of Missouri’s crime laws, known as the “Criminal Code,” were updated as a whole during the 2014 session of the Missouri General Assembly. The legislation went into effect as law on January 1, 2017. The bill that revised the Criminal Code, Senate Bill 491, contained nearly 1,000 pages of revisions to laws to correct many internal conflicts, mistakes and inconsistencies that had occurred during the past three decades.
